Which Phones Are Compatible With the 2022 Ram 1500?

Most of us are probably too connected to our smartphones on a daily basis. However, these devices are important for a nearly endless list of reasons. Like previous generations, the 2022 Ram 1500 is compatible with both the Apple CarPlay and Android Auto suites of applications. The major change made to the Uconnect 5 system affecting these two systems is that users can connect their compatible devices to the truck’s infotainment system wirelessly, this means fewer cords getting tangled and just less clutter in general.

Additionally, Uconnect 5 is equipped with voice-recognition control, allowing users to interact with both smartphone suites, hands-free.

Amazon Alexa Integration

Amazon Alexa digital assistants have become almost as ubiquitous in our homes as smartphones. Many of us use Alexa for having items delivered to our homes, listening to music or podcasts, or simply making to-do lists for household tasks. The current Ram 1500 is also compatible with Alexa, allowing users to inquire about the status of various systems, as well as offering the ability to remotely start the truck, or locking and unlocking the doors.

Customizable Displays and Profiles

The most visually compelling element of the Uconnect 5 system is the 12-inch touchscreen interface that is standard equipment on Sport, Rebel, Laramie®, Longhorn™, Limited, and TRX trims. Much of the rest of the 2022 Ram 1500 lineup employs an 8.4-inch touchscreen. The infotainment system’s touchscreen will be where drivers and passengers do most of the work in controlling Uconnect 5. This is also where the digital centre gauge cluster and HUD are controlled. Per the automaker, Uconnect 5 is up to five times faster than previous iterations of the software.

Prior to Uconnect 5 becoming available, only one user at a time could use a compatible device to control a Ram truck’s infotainment system. Models equipped with the new system will be able to accommodate two Bluetooth® devices at the same time. If more than one person will be regularly driving the truck, each of them will always be able to have important settings saved. Five individual profiles can be created that will remember things like radio stations, temperature, seating and mirror placement, and more.
